Updation

So i'm updating because someone on my smt team told me i should.

Friday was orientation for ucla. It was pretty boring. I had like 5 hours of free time in which i got nothing done. Hey that's kind of like what prep time is like at smt meetings! Haha jk. So i'm signed up for LS3, Korean 1A, and Chem153A. It's gonna be a tough quarter but i'm gonna enjoy it. Besides, i have classes with Kristi and Hanna. Yay!

SMT is leaving for korea in 7 days. I'm really excited.

The Problem With us Kids

So I've noticed something going on in YNECM ministry. Well, I've noticed it a while ago, but I feel the need to talk about it on a (semi) public forum. I feel that there is a lack of dedication/stepping up/prioritization in the congregation in our ministry. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the current student leadership isn't doing well. That's far from it. I believe that the current student leaders are doing a fantastic job, but what I'm concerned about is the lack of, for a better word, "heart" in the majority of the congregation. Hell, even the new members on praise team don't seem to take praise team seriously. Most of the congregation probably don't even know that these guys are even on praise team because they are either so late that they can't play, or are so late that they are on time for service, or are so late that they are late to service. I think that, in praise team's particular case, a member's punctuality is a direct reflection of how committed one is to praise. Now on to the majority.

Service starts at 10am. I think that's an extremely reasonable time for a college service to start. So why do so many people show up late? Again, I think that it shows where faith is prioritized in one's life. I know going to church does not directly correlate to a good spiritual life, but I would like to think that if you really are serious about your faith and do care about your spiritual well being, you would make an effort to come to worship service on time to be able to worship God and partake in fellowship with your fellow brothers and sisters. Also, this probably is a direct correlation to the lack of people who are willing to take an active role in our ministry. If your own faith is not a priority in your life, then how will serving others become a priority?

Also, if you are late, please PLEASE have be considerate of everyone who is there and not go around high fiving your friends while looking for a seat, or looking for a seat closest to your friends. Just go sit in the first empty chair you find and feel super guilty about how late you were (jk about the last part).

I probably sound really pompous and high and mighty in this post. I don't mean to, but when there are 10-15 people on a sunday morning when worship service starts, it's a little annoying and definitely discouraging.
